The forty-seventh Virtual Encounter with Outstanding Mathematicians took place on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024 from 5 pm until 6 pm. Astrid Acosta, Bachelor in Education and Math Tutor in West Panama, was our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
On this forty-seventh Encounter, Astrid Acosta shared anecdotes of her personal life and her professional journey as a female mathematician. The speaker also presented on “Math in Action: Games and Puzzles to Think.” In this virtual event, Astrid Acosta explored how to apply mathematical concepts in a fun way through games such as “Like Dogs and Cats” and “Secret Messages“. The speaker encouraged the participants to develop mathematical and strategic skills through these puzzles, while enjoying themselves by playing.
