The forty-third Math Webinar in English took place on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024 from 5 pm until 6 pm with Josh Laison, Professor of Mathematics at Willamette University in Oregon, United States, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
In this forty-third Math Webinar in English, Josh Laison presented on “Scaling Lizards and Seeing Rectangles.” The speaker started the virtual event by explaining what a graph is, what graphs are used for and what geometric graphs, intersection graphs and visibility graphs are. Josh Laison then presented three research projects that he worked on with his university students related to geometric graph theory based on puzzles. The speaker also described what a lizard intersection graph is, what a corner rectangle visibility graph is and what a minimal rectangle visibility graph is. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
