Forty-Sixth Math Webinar in English

The forty-sixth Math Webinar in English took place on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 from 5 pm until 6 pm with Lauren Rose, Associate Professor of Mathematics at Bard College, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.

In this forty-sixth Math Webinar in English, Lauren Rose presented on “EvenQuads: A SET-like Game with a Twist.” The speaker started the virtual event by explaining the origins and the rules of the game of SET, which was invented by Marsha Falco in 1974. Lauren Rose then described the differences between the game of SET and Quads, which was invented by Lauren Rose and Jeff Pereira in 2013. The speaker shared that EvenQuads was published by the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) in honor of their 50th Anniversary and consists of the game of Quads on one side of the cards and profiles of women in mathematics on the other side of the cards. Lauren Rose also described the multiple connections between the game of Quads and mathematics and invited the participants to play the game in the link https://drlaurenrose.github.io/QUADS. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
