Webinar on Explore the Virtual Museum of Mathematics

The Webinar on Explore the Virtual Museum of Mathematics took place on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 from 5 pm until 6 pm, with Aubin Arroyo, Researcher at the Math Institute in the Cuernavaca Unit of the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM), as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.

The invited speaker started the virtual event by describing the origin of the museum, as well as the objectives, that include to change the perception of mathematics, to show that math is beautiful, useful and surprising, and to foster wonder, by offering meaningful experiences. Aubin Arroyo explained that the museum is thought for 14 year olds and above but that there is material for all levels since curiosity has no age limit. The speaker also mentioned that the museum allows visitors to play with mathematics through applications that are distributed in 5 spherical rooms with 20 stories and 150 hidden interactions. Aubin Arroyo invited participants to explore the museum in the link https://mumat.matcuer.unam.mx. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mexican Mathematical Society (SMM).
