The forty-eighth Math Webinar in English took place on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 from 5 pm until 6 pm with Jacqueline Cordes, composer, synesthete and polyglot who strives to expand the vocabulary of music, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
In this forty-eighth Math Webinar in English, Jacqueline Cordes presented on “How to Create Colorful Music.” The speaker started the virtual event by explaining that synesthesia is a non-pathological variation of the human perception and synesthetes can, for example, experience colors when listening to musical notes. Jacqueline Cordes then shared several melodies inspired by the Fibonacci sequence and invited the participants to follow her YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@jacqueline-colorful-music. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
