The Webinar on Math Legends took place on Thursday, November 14th, 2024 from 5 pm until 6 pm, with Diana Bueno, Professor of Mathematics at the Pontifical Javeriana University Cali Section in Colombia, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker shared three mathematical legends: Caesar cipher, Hanoi towers and Konigsberg bridges. Diana Bueno also explained what a graph is and what graphs are currently used for and connected recursion and recurrence relations with epidemiology, fractals and investments. The speaker then described how information theory is related to cryptography, steganography and error correcting codes.
