The Webinar on The Mystery of Numbers took place on Thursday, August 29th, 2024 from 5 pm until 6 pm, with Nicolas Piña, Professor at the Central University of Chile, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker explained why 6174 is Krapekar’s constant for four digits and why 495 is considered Kaprekar’s constant for three digits. Nicolas Piña then described why 73 is Sheldon Cooper’s favorite number from the popular TV show “Big Bang Theory”. The speaker also defined which are the happy numbers and which are the unhappy numbers and highlighted an open problem in mathematics: we still do not know if there exist infinitely many happy prime numbers.
