The Webinar on Research on Dyscalculia and Math Learning took place on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 from 2 pm until 3:30 pm, with Andres Rieznik, mathemagician and researcher of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) of Argentina, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker explained that dyscalculia is a specific difficulty in arithmetic learning. Andres Rieznik mentioned that dyscalculia is a forgotten chapter of neuropsychology and that it should not be confused with math anxiety. The speaker described how psychopedagogues detect and diagnose people with dyscalculia and commented on several interventions that are used. Andres Rieznik also recommended the Mora App for Android, which is also used by kids with dyscalculia, even though the App is designed for 6-8 year-old kids to learn mathematics while playing,
