The twenty-fifth Math Webinar in English took place on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 from 5 pm until 6 pm with David Poras, Senior Product Director for Mathigon, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
In this twenty-fifth Math Webinar in English, David Poras presented on “Using Virtual Manipulatives for Math Exploration and Discovery”. Through various concrete examples, the speaker explained how virtual manipulatives allow us to teach creativity and problem-solving, make abstract relations visible, and perform more complex interactions that are not possible in the physical world. David Poras also described how to use Polypad, a free online resource to use virtual manipulatives. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and Mathigon.
