The twenty-first Math Webinar in English took place on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022 from 5 pm until 6 pm with Samantha Pezzimenti, Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics at Penn State Brandywine, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
In this twenty-first Math Webinar in English, Samantha Pezzimenti presented on “Math and Crafts: Fun with Möbius Bands.” The speaker explained what a Möbius band is and how it can be made by making one half-twist on a strip of paper and attaching the ends with tape. Using strips of paper, scissors, tape and colored markers, the participants made several Möbius bands and explored some of their many magical mathematical properties. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
