The Webinar on The Mathematics in Ketchup took place on Thursday, April 14th, 2022 from 4 pm until 5 pm with Sofia Lopez, member of the Gender Commission of the Ecuadorian Society of Mathematics (SEdeM), as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker started the virtual event by explaining what a fluid is and what the difference between a Newtonian fluid and a non-Newtonian fluid is. Sofia Lopez then described the property of viscosity in fluids and mentioned several applications that motivate the analysis of non-Newtonian fluids, like the study of avalanches, lava and art. This virtual event was co-organized by the Ecuadorian Society of Mathematics (SEdeM).
