The Webinar on Let’s Explore Numerical and Geometric Challenges took place on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 from 4 pm until 5 pm, with Eduardo Basurto, member of the Mexican Association of Educational Mathematics (AMME), as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The speaker presented the following numerical challenge: pick a positive integer. If it’s even, divide it by 2. If it’s odd, multiply it by 3 and add 1. If you repeat these steps, what is the smallest integer that you get? Eduardo Basurto also shared two geometric challenges that involve arranging a certain number of trees. This virtual event was co-organized with the Mexican Association of Educational Mathematics (AMME).
