The eighteenth Math Webinar in English took place on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022 from 5 pm until 6 pm with Yana Mohanty, Founder and CEO at Imathgination LLC, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
In this eighteenth Math Webinar in English, Yana Mohanty presented on “Dickens, Airplane Wings, and Other Stops in the Journey of a Flexagon.” The speaker introduced the tri-tetraflexagon and described how two tri-tetraflexagons can be attached to make a magic wallet. Yana Mohanty then explained how a Jacob’s Ladder is a chain of several magic wallets and showed various references to this ladder in art and in literature. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
