The Webinar on An opportune calculation, rhyme and mathematics, playing with grammar, like: 1×1=1 took place on Thursday, October 13th, 2022 from 4 pm until 5 pm with Pedro Morales-Almazan, Professor of Mathematics at the University of California in Santa Cruz, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker presented several examples of how mathematics is connected to poetry through description, content and structure. Pedro Morales-Almazan shared poems of Violeta Parra, Juan Ramon Jimenez, Borges, Jorge Eielson and Joan Brossa. The speaker also described the structure of the sestinas and related them with permutations and diagrams.
