The Webinar on Challenges When Teaching Decimal Numbers took place on Thursday, April 7th, 2022 from 4 pm until 5:30 pm with Alicia Avila, member of the Mexican Association of Educational Mathematics (AMME), as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker highlighted the importance of students understanding that the decimal numbers are different from the natural numbers. Alicia Avila also described the relation between decimal numbers and fractions. The speaker showed the multiple ways to represent the decimal numbers and shared several ideas on how to explain these concepts in a classroom with high school students. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mexican Association of Educational Mathematics (AMME).
