The Webinar on A Mathematical Journey through the Pre-Columbian Cultures – Part II took place on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 from 4 pm until 5 pm with Ximena Catepillan, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Millersville University in Pennsylvania, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker reviewed what she presented in October 2021 when we visited Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Guatemala. Dr. Ximena Catepillan in this occasion also took us to Cuba, Mexico and the United States, where we explored several mathematical aspects of the indigenous populations that inhabited those countries. This virtual event was co-organized with the Society of Mathematics of Chile (SOMACHI).
