Webinar on Dyscalculia and New Technologies for Learning

The Webinar on Dyscalculia and New Technologies for Learning took place on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 from 2 pm until 3:30 pm, with Andres Rieznik, mathemagician and researcher of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) of Argentina, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.

The invited speaker explained what dyscalculia is and described the cerebral modules, the plasticity of the brain and the neural recycling. Andres Rieznik highlighted the importance of the early detection of dyscalculia and of the population’s awareness about the existence of this math learning disability. The speaker also mentioned that the interventions include making the numbers visible with concrete material, the soft transition from the concrete to the abstract, and the use of visual scaffolding.
