The thirty-second Math Webinar in English took place on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023 from 5 pm until 6 pm with Cynthia Huffman, Professor of Mathematics at Pittsburg State University in Kansas, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
In this thirty-second Math Webinar in English, Cynthia Huffman presented on “Bell-y Mathematics: Math & Music Intertwined”. The speaker shared a brief summary of the history of bells and of the history of math. Cynthia Huffman then explained how people connected with bells figured out several results in mathematics before the mathematicians. The speaker, who is also a handbell soloist, showed some amazing videos demonstrating her talent playing bells. This virtual event was co-organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
