The Webinar on The Mathematics of the Inca Empire took place on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 from 2 pm until 3 pm, with Maria del Carmen Bonilla, Researcher in Ethnomathematics and winner of the Simon Bolivar Prize by the Latin American Committee of Educational Mathematics, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker described the territory that was covered by the Inca Empire and presented on two tools that were used by the incas: the quipu and the yupana. Maria del Carmen Bonilla also explained the number system of the incas and invited the participants to attend an Ethnomathematics Congress that will take place in Peru.
