The Webinar on Diagnostics and Practical Interventions for Dyscalculia took place on Thursday, July 1st, 2021 from 2 pm until 3:30 pm, as our invited speaker. with Dr. Silvia Renata, Director of NeuroEduca, This virtual event was free and open to the general public.
The invited speaker started the virtual event by explaining that dyscalculia is a disability resulting in difficulty learning mathematics that has a biological origin. Dr. Silvia Renata clarified that the specialists that diagnose and treat dyscalculia are psychopedagogues, educational psychologists or neuropsychologists. The speaker also indicated that having dyscalculia results in emotional consequences and in mathematical anxiety that must be treated. Dr. Silvia Renata mentioned that once dyscalculia is diagnosed, the specialist designs a plan of intervention depending on the profile of the person, which includes the use of stimulation activities in the development of mathematical skills.
