Abstract: In 2018, Arthemisia presented the complete works of Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898–1972) in Lisbon, showcasing his mastery of continuous transformations, optical illusions, tessellations, impossible constructions, and the mathematical concepts underlying his art. By examining a carefully selected group of works, this webinar will highlight the common thread throughout Escher’s oeuvre, emphasizing both their artistic brilliance and their appeal to mathematicians.
