Webinar on Fibonacci and Lucas: Numbers Everywhere

The Webinar on Fibonacci and Lucas: Numbers Everywhere took place on Thursday, February 26th, 2026 from 5 pm until 6 pm, with Pedro Fernandez, Professor of the Mathematics and Statistics Department at the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia – Duitama Sectional Faculty, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.

The speaker started the virtual event with a mathemagic trick based on the Zeckendorf Decomposition Theorem and then presented the story of Leonardo of Pisa and of Édouard Lucas. Pedro Fernandez also shared several curiosities and properties of the Fibonacci numbers, as well as various examples of how this sequence appears in nature, in art and in our everyday life. The speaker recommended reading The Fibonacci Quarterly magazine of the Fibonacci Association.
