Webinar on Futurama or the Mathematics of the XXXI Century

The Webinar on Futurama or the Mathematics of the XXXI Century took place on Thursday, August 28th, 2025 from 5 pm until 6 pm, with the science communicator Claudio Sanchez from Argentina, as our invited speaker. This virtual event was free and open to the general public.

The speaker explained how Futurama is a TV animation series created by Matt Groening, creator of the popular comedy series The Simpsons. Claudio Sanchez described that the plot of the series revolves around the activities and adventures of the employees of the company Planet Express, dedicated to interplanetary courier delivery. The speaker showed several concrete examples of mathematics in the series such as the Klein bottle, the Moebius band, Flatland, Hardy-Ramanujan’s number, binary numbers and many more.
